Scania (Great Britain) has appointed Steve Martin to the position of general manager, Scania Truck Rental. Martin brings with him 16 years' experience in the commercial vehicle rental industry, during which time he has worked in a number of roles covering sales, pricing, operations and management. Martin's new post sees him take overall day-to-day responsibility for Scania's UK-wide truck rental service.

The Environment Agency has announced Ed Mitchell as the new director of environment and business. In his new position, Mitchell's main priority will be to make it easy for businesses to protect the environment and get on with economic recovery. "We'll make it less burdensome for the majority of responsible businesses and take robust action against businesses that flout the law," he promises.

Refrigerated bodybuilder GRP says Duncan Read has taken over as managing director. The move follows Don Rastrick's retirement earlier this year; he founded the firm 38 years ago. Read spent a career in financial services before taking over at GRP.

JCB has recruited one of the car industry's leading engineers to the position of group engineering director. Michael Mohan, 44, has joined JCB from Jaguar Land Rover, where he was strategic business office director. Tim Burnhope, JCB's group managing director for product development and commercial operations, says: "We are delighted to welcome Michael to JCB to one of the most senior positions in the company. As well as a deep rooted pedigree in UK manufacturing, he is passionate about engineering and has vast engineering experience and both these qualities will help drive forward our programme of exciting product introductions in the future."

Recovery vehicle bodybuilder Roger Dyson Group has strengthened its team by signing Swedish-born Johan Stolt as aftersales manager at the Droitwich-based company. "The service team here have been doing a great job, but there's definitely huge potential to grow this side of our business," says Stolt. "We want operators to understand that we don't just sell them equipment and then forget about them – we will do everything we can to help our customers keep their vehicles and equipment working productively throughout their life."
