Gray & Adams has re-branded its fuel efficient trailers the Eco-Range, with the Eco-Aer, Eco-Max and Eco-Low, all part of the line-up.
 Eco-Aer covers aerodynamic modifications for refrigerated trailers and bodies, which have been track tested at MIRA. These include tapered side skirts, radiused top cappings and a modified rear roof section which incorporates a vortex generator.
Gray & Adams claims that savings in fuel consumption of 10% can be achieved under certain operating conditions – equating to a reduction in CO2 emissions of 11 tonnes per annum.
Meanwhile, Eco-Max refers to the firm's twin deck range, with the company pointing out that these trailers offer up to 70% increased capacity over a standard units – meaning fewer vehicle movements.
As for the Eco-Low – introduced at the 2008 CV show – this is all about restricting noise emissions from vehicle to 60 decibels for residential areas and night time distribution.
Gray & Adams makes the point that night time distribution is gaining momentum as a result of continued campaigning by the Noise Abatement Society and support from the FTA and DfT.
