Edbro's ram and tank assemblies featured on four of the six vehicles in this year's annual truck tipper tests, including the highest scoring MAN chassis.

Edbro cylinders power tipper trucks to victory in annual contestThe MAN TGS 35.400, with an Edbro CX15 front end, came in first, scoring 89 points out of a possible 100 over four main test criteria. In joint third place, with 85 points on the subjective test carried out by industry professionals both on-road and in a quarry, were the DAF CF85410 and Scania P-Series 360. The veco Trakker AD340T36K also scored well, with 81 points, featuring Edbro CX15 lifting gear.

Peter Smith, sales and marketing director at Edbro comments: "We are really pleased with the results; doubly so as we have launched an improved product since the trucks were specified for the test, earlier this year."

Edbro's newly launched CX14 cylinder assembly offers a weight saving of 60kg over the company's previous generation CX15 – itself claimed to be up to 165kg lighter than competitors' products.

Smith makes the point that any weight savings quickly add up to a significant extra payload-per-day capacity and a large increase in profitability over the lifetime of the chassis.

Edbro calculates that a tipper using the CX14 cylinder assembly could boost profits by more than £8,000 over a chassis lifetime. And this is without factoring in the faster tipping speeds that the CX14 can deliver, which enable speedier turnaround times at a site.
