Continental Tyres has unveiled its first winter tyre for coaches – the HSW 2 Coach, which is suitable for use on all axles and in all seasons, thanks to an intelligent tread pattern.
 With use, the tyre surface evolves into a conventional grooved pattern: hence its additional applicability to spring and summer.
Continental says this removes the cost of changing and storing tyres on a seasonal basis, and gives operators more flexibility to travel anywhere in Europe at any time of year.
Continental has also published a guide highlighting the different tyre requirements that UK and Irish truck and coach operators must adhere to across European countries.
Its Winter Tyre Guide provides operators with useful information and details on legislation, and is available for download at www.conti-online.co.uk/truck.
Following last winter's transport paralysis, Conti is also upping the ante on its winter tyres for other vehicles, which, it says, give 20% more traction on snow- and ice-covered roads.
