Pickup trucks converter Pick Up Systems has launched a Multi Purpose Utility Vehicle (MPUV), to be showcased at the forthcoming Emergency Services show.

Multi purpose utility vehicle launchedThe firm says its MPUVs are idea for front line small fire units (SFUs) – getting away from the 'one vehicle fits all' approach and handling the 80% nuisance fires that five-man crews can handle.

Daryl Oprey, chief operations officer at Humberside Fire and Rescue explains that nuisance fires tend to peak during a particular time of the year.

"If we could detach the fire fighting pump out of the unit, it would then be a multi purpose unit we could kit up with other equipment," he says.

The MPUV can transform into a small fire unit or a support vehicle. The pumper is carried on a sled, which can be removed and replaced by other types of emergency equipment.
