The first type-approved and market-ready next generation digital tachograph will be launched by Stoneridge Electronics at the CV Show.

CV Show to debut next generation digital tachoThe SE5000 Exakt, designed and manufactured at the company's European headquarters in Bromma, Sweden, records driving time and non-driving time in segments of a minute versus whole minute sections currently.

The unit has been introduced to comply with the scheduled changes to Annex 1B of the driver's hours regulation, due out in October 2011, which will now make it possible for road transport operators to improve productivity by ensuring only true driving time is recorded.

Annex 1B states that the single longest continuous activity undertaken within a given minute will be logged against that specific action.

"The launch of the SE5000 Exakt showcases the next generation of digital tachographs," states Peter Hafmar, product manager for Tachographs at Stoneridge Electronics.

"As it records driver hours accurately it will improve productivity for road transport operations," he adds.

"At present, drivers are losing valuable driving time, because of the way hours are logged, but the changes to the legislation, and the launch of Stoneridge's new digital tachograph, will have a positive effect on the recording and administration of driver's hours."
