The Freight Transport Association has launched the 16th edition of its guide for international road transport operators.

FTA unveils latest international road transport guideThe annual guide includes information to help clarify regulations faced by UK operators when they visit countries in the EU and beyond.

As usual., country profiles are used to equip transport managers with the information they need to avoid delays and deal effectively with roadside enforcement – and this latest edition also features updated information on public holidays, weekend lorry bans and toll prices.

Each year, suggestions from FTA members are included, and new sections in this edition include coverage of Algeria, updates on safe loading and on the DocStop scheme, which is available for drivers in parts of mainland Europe.

"International road transport operators are often faced with a confusing array of local and national regulations, including weekend bans, local weight restrictions and city centre bans linked to low emissions," comments says Don Armour, FTA's international manager and editor of the guide.

He also refers to different processes and penalties for dealing with tachograph and drivers' hours infringements, roadworthiness issues and inappropriate loading of the vehicle.

"This year's guide is even more comprehensive than before and, with no price increase again this year, international road transport operators will find it fantastic value," he adds.
