Iveco's hybrid Eurocargo truck made its UK debut at the LCV 2011 event last month in the form of the 12-tonne 120E18/P, which is also available at 7.5 tonner.
The truck uses a diesel-electric parallel hybrid driveline, designed for multi-drop distribution in towns and cities without sacrificing high-speed motorway performance.
In brief detail, you get a 16-valve, four-cylinder Tector EEV diesel engine, rated at 180bhp, in combination with a 6bhp electric motor-generator.
The engine and motor are driven through a six-speed automated gearbox, while a Li-ion battery pack having 1.9kW/h capacity provides electrical energy storage.
"We have managed to engineer all of the hybrid technology into the Eurocargo with only a 250kg payload deficit over a conventional diesel engined model," explains Martin Flach, product director at Iveco UK.
