Electric commercial vehicles supplier ePower Trucks launched two new low cost units – the Alke XT320E electric 3.5 tonne LCV and heavy duty eLXD utility truck.

Electric trucks launched for estates managementThe Alke, which starts at £35,000 and comes in two- and four-wheel drive versions , features a light aluminium frame body. It is capable of at least 60 miles in 'fast' mode – longer in 'eco' mode – with the flat bed offering a 750kg payload.

Its lead battery technology – available as a fast-swap battery pack – has been adapted from military vehicle applications and requires zero maintenance. It is also road-legal, and rated to tow loads of up to 1,500kg on the road.

Meanwhile, the firm's heavy duty eLXD utility truck, from Global Electric Motors, has a roaming range of 50 miles per charge and a top speed of 28mph.

ePower Trucks reckons it costs less than 2p per mile to run and has a 630kg payload. Body configurations available include cargo storage box, flatbed pick-up with drop sides, or 500kg tipper with manual hydraulic pump.

New features include a fold-down stake bed, onboard energy monitoring system and 12in turf tyres.
