Citroën's new Five Star, 'business class' Euro 5 LCV programme includes its e-HDi Airdream micro-hybrid drivetrain for the new diesel-powered vans.

Citroen adds micro hybrid to Berlingo Euro 5 vansThe micro-hybrid is being fitted to the six most fuel-efficient Berlingo Euro 5 vans, which have combined cycle fuel consumption figures up to 60.1mpg and CO2 emissions of 123g/km.

It incorporates the company's latest Euro 5 HDi 90 diesel engine – which develops 90bhp at 4,000rpm and torque of 159lb.ft at 1,500rpm – and has Stop & Start technology, using a micro-hybrid starter/generator.

Citroën's system also features regenerative braking to recover and store energy that would otherwise be lost when slowing or braking.

e-HDi Airdream Berlingo vans, which are priced from £12,795, are available as L1 625 X and LX or L2 750 X and LX models, with a choice of five-speed manual or six-speed automated manual EGS6 transmission.

Other newcomers to the Five Star, 'business class' Euro 5 LCV programme include Euro 5 Dispatch and Relay ranges.
