The number of youngsters aspiring to become Scania commercial vehicle technicians continues to increase, with more than 50 embarking on Scania Apprenticeship programmes between September 2011 and January 2012.

Scania engineering apprentice numbers continue to riseThis latest intake comprises 39 apprentice technicians, five apprentice parts engineers and eight apprentice bus and coach technicians.

"These figures are part of a healthy upward trend that has seen our intake of apprentices almost double over the past three years," comments Mark Grant, aftersales director for Scania GB.

"That is excellent news, not only for Scania and its customers but also for the transport sector in general, as today's new blood is the future lifeblood of our industry," he adds.

During their three-year programme, Scania apprentices receive training and support from the in-house team at Scania's award-winning UK Training Centre near Loughborough, with its fully-fitted workshop and training rooms.

Between training blocks, they are continuously mentored and assessed by their employing Scania dealers.
