Fitter/Technician - £23,866 - £25,463 per annum - Norfolk Fire Service HQ, Hethersett - 37 hours per week - Permanent contract03 July 2018

The in-house fleet service within Norfolk County Council (NCC) Community and Environmental Services has recently been restructured, bringing together fleet teams from Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service and Highways to form an integrated fleet unit.

We are looking for a flexible and motivated person with knowledge and experience in the heavy/specialist vehicle industry, to join the NCC in-house fleet team as a Fitter/Technician. The role will include maintenance and servicing across a fleet that includes specialist vehicles, equipment, small plant and tools in both a workshop and live operational site environment. You will be expected to participate in out of hours activities and be on the support vehicle rota.

The post is based at Hethersett (Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service site) but may require you to work from the fleet facility at King’s Lynn. The following knowledge/qualifications are required:

  • City & Guilds certificate in Motor Vehicle Craft Studies, (light and heavy vehicles), or NVQ equivalent in Motor Vehicle Studies, (light and heavy vehicles).
  • Full/clean LGV category C Driving Licence.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake further training specific to wide range of equipment used in Fleet Service.

Significant experience of working within a commercial workshop, on site, servicing, inspecting diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a range of vehicles including LGV class 3 Licence and DVSA Standards.
