This is an exciting opportunity to manage a local authority fleet with a diversity of vehicles, plant and equipment, all maintained in its own purpose built workshop complete with MOT testing lane.

You’ll be responsible for vehicle procurement and maintenance, ensuring that our vehicles, equipment and plant is available so that council services can be delivered efficiently to our residents businesses and partners. You will also be responsible for the management of MOT testing, plating and licensing of taxis, liaison with partners and suppliers and ensure conformity with legislation and safe practice.

You will be qualified to hold the council’s Operators License (O License) and will need to be qualified in vehicle maintenance and workshop management (a member or associate member of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers, or equivalent). You must also have extensive experience in the fleet transport industry and be a competent people manager. Familiarity with heavy goods vehicle operations is essential and experience of managing an MOT Testing Station will be ideal.
