Fleet Workshop Manager

Post Number OPWP4008

37 Hours per week

Grade 8: £29,636.00 to £33,799.00 per year

Alternating Shifts 06:00 to 14:00 and 14:00 to 22:00

Contractual Overtime of 32.5 hours per year.This equates to 1.25 hours every other week.

As one of two Workshop Managers working on alternate shifts you will report directly to the Group Manager. Running a busy workshop, this key role requires someone who is able to organise, plan the activities of our technicians, and make quick decisions in response to the changing needs of our services.

Looking after the most diverse range of vehicles in the area, the fleet services group provides a full service to the operational front line teams of the Council. You will play a critical role in ensuring that we provide a cost effective fleet solution whilst ensuring our vehicles are fit, roadworthy and serviceable with minimum downtime.

You will have the ability to motivate staff and act as a role model whilst working collaboratively with technicians and service users in our operational teams. You will identify the development needs of the technicians and maintain your own continuous professional development whilst promoting a first time fix attitude, continuous improvement and a total quality culture. You will be able identify and adapt to change positively and working with the Fleet Services Group Manager implement cost reduction ideas to ensure good budget management.

Offering technical support to the Fleet Maintenance Technicians you will need a high level of technical knowledge, with an understanding of all modern vehicle systems, including canbus, emissions control systems, air braking and hydraulics.
