Mercedes-Benz Truck & Van (NI) has appointed Rab Jackson as group service manager, with responsibility for repair and maintenance at its 24-hour Newtonabbey workshop and Dungannon branch.

Jackson served his technician apprenticeship on heavy construction equipment, before joining a Swedish truck franchisee, where he remained for more than 30 years.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has appointed Matt Belsom as its new area fleet manager for London and the South East.

He was formerly with contact lens manufacturer CooperVision, where he spent nearly three years as a senior business development manager.

Fleet management systems integration specialist Isotrak has announced two senior appointments. Jim Sumner, formerly managing director of Leyland Trucks, joins as executive chairman; and Tony English, former managing director of MiX Telematics Europe, becomes CEO.

Sumner led the transformation of Leyland Trucks over 10 years following its acquisition by Paccar, during which time the business won the Queens Award for Export. He then moved to Optare and most recently took the role of chairman of car parts distributor Andrew Page.

English has spent more than 20 years in fleet management and telematics, and was one of two major shareholders in Tranman Solutions, an international fleet and asset management systems firm that was sold to the Lex Service. Most recently, he was managing director of MiX Telematics.

Imperial UK, the independent commercial vehicle dealer group, has promoted Helen Wheatley to the new position of group tender sales executive in its corporate fleet department.

Wheatley joined Imperial 12 months ago as group fleet sales support manager, which also involved assisting the group in providing tender submissions. She will report to Rachael Helliwell, group corporate sales manager.

Des Evans OBE, formerly managing director of MAN Truck & Bus UK, is to join the board of Axis Fleet Management as a non-executive director. He will be working with executive chairman Robert Montague CBE.

Motor Wheel Service Distribution (MWSD) has completed its senior management board, with the appointment of Jason Mayor as chief commercial officer.

He will be responsible for sales and marketing in the UK and Europe, where the company recently launched MWheels in Germany. Mayor was previously sales director at Freightlink Solutions, having moved from national key account manager for Carrier Transicold and national account manager for ATS-Euromaster.

Chevin Fleet Solutions has promoted David Gladding from UK sales director to global sales and marketing director.

Fleet Assist has promoted Vincent St Claire to managing director, sharing responsibility for strategic development with co-founders Mike Smith and Simon English. Meanwhile, Jonathan Smith moves p to chief information officer and Brigitte Deacon to head of finance.

Scania (GB) has appointed David Carter specialist sales manager for its UK fire and airside business. He moves from a procurement role for the UK Ambulance Service and brings strong commercial vehicle experience, having risen through the ranks from apprentice technician to fleet and account management.

Hiab, part of Cargotec, has promoted Scott Hall to head of global sales and services, succeeding Sebastian Poccard, who is leaving Hiab to pursue other interests. Hall will report to president Roland Sundén. Before joining Hiab in 2015, he worked for more than 10 years at Volvo Construction Equipment looking after global sales and marketing. He was formerly president and CEO of Volvo Rents.

Fleet management consultancy Fleet Operations has promoted Richard Hipkiss from operations director to managing director. Brian Hardwick is its new head of operations.
