Stagecoach Group director and Transport Systems Catapult chair Will Whitehorn has been named as the next President of CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport). He will take up the one-year presidency from Beverley Bell, senior transport commissioner, when she passes the baton to him at an inauguration lunch in London on 20 May.

Whitehorn is a fellow of the institute and has been a vice president for the past four years. He is a leading figure in the transport sector and has been involved in the profession all of his working life.

Preston Feight has been promoted to president of DAF Trucks NV, succeeding Harrie Schippers, who has been promoted to parent company Paccar senior vice president with responsibility for DAF Trucks and Paccar Parts at the corporate office in Seattle.

Feight has been with Paccar for 18 years, most recently as vice president and general manager of Kenworth Truck Company and prior to that chief engineer and assistant general manager of marketing and sales. Preston Feight is a graduate of Northern

Nick Fell as the new engineering director at engineering, research and vehicle testing specialist Horiba Mira. A mechanical engineer with a masters in manufacturing systems engineering from Warwick University, he brings more than 30 years of experience to the role.

Fell joins Mira from Tata Motors European Technical Centre (TMETC), a provider of automotive engineering services to its Indian parent company Tata Motors. He led the business in his capacity as director and head of TMETC.

Ralf Schueler is the new marketing director at MAN Truck & Bus UK, responsible for leading the Swindon-based marketing department. He comes from the automotive sector, having spent 13 years with Audi and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in a variety of roles.

Schueler has spent the last eight years as marketing director for Akzo Nobel Automotive and Aerospace Coatings in the Netherlands, as well as latterly as managing director for the Akzo Nobel Yacht Coating business, based in Houston, Texas.

James Colbourne is the new sales director for Scania Scotland, based at Scania Bellshill, succeeding Brian Shute, Scania's long-standing sales director for the region, who has retired. He has more than 10 years experience in the automotive sector, most recently at Mercedes-Benz UK's commercial vehicles operation, where he held a variety of sales and aftersales positions.

Kevin Lawton has been appointed Michelin solutions bus and coach sales manager for the UK and Republic of Ireland. The veteran Michelin employee assumes the role after a near six-year stint as UK operations manager, firstly at Michelin Fleet Solutions, before continuing with the same role when Michelin solutions was launched in 2013.

Lawton has held several roles at Michelin, including repair and retread earthmover and agricultural tyres technician and product marketing technical manager. He also worked as a Michelin competition technician, supporting Ford, Peugeot and Vauxhall’s involvement in the British Rally Championship, and Alfa Romeo, Ford, Peugeot and Vauxhall in the British Touring Car Championship.

A new operations director is among four appointments aat Chevin Fleet Solutions. Peter Ormsby will be responsible for overseeing development of the firm’s fleet management system FleetWave and its smartphone and tablet-based mobile fleet software, as well as projects, as well as leading key global developments. His experience includes work as an IT director and company founder.

James Mulligan has returned to South Wales Mercedes-Benz Dealer Euro Commercials as group service manager. He first served a technician’s apprenticeship at the dealer’s Newport branch in the early 1990s, but is now responsible for Euro Commercials’ truck and van workshops in Cardiff and Swansea, as well as the Newport facility.

Mulligan was formerly with Mercedes-Benz customer Gulliver’s Truck Hire, where he was national engineering and operations manager.

Alison Prince has joined Irizar UK as sales account manager covering the north of England and northern Wales. She has considerable experience of the sector, having come from a similar role in PCV sales with Mellor Coachcraft.

Motor Wheel Service Distribution has appointed Alex Kitzen European sales manager, reporting directly to managing directgor John Ellis. He will focus on Xlite and Xbrite forged aluminium wheels for manufacturers in Germany and the Netherlands before looking to the wider
