Vacu-Lug employee Jason Humphries has achieved a ‘distinction’ in the City & Guilds Part 1 Retread Workshop Practice examination, scoring the highest mark nationwide. The firm’s Dave Alsop and Elaine Dable achieved ‘credit’ passes in the same exams, proving their knowledge of retreading practices.

Hiab, part of Cargotec, has appointed Jan-Erik Lindfors vice president, new business solutions and a member of the firm’s leadership team. He was formerly with HiQ Finland where he was vice president, strategy & business development.

Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealer Rygor has named Julie Steed as the director responsible for its new flagship branch in Gloucester. She will oversee truck and van sales as well as aftersales, working with van manager Wendy Smith, parts manager Nigel Harding and service manager Aaron King.

After 36 years at ZF Group, Rolf Lutz is retiring this autumn from his position as director of corporate quality, commercial vehicle technology. ZF board member Wilhelm Rehm, currently responsible for corporate materials management and industrial technology, will assume responsibility for the commercial vehicle business, while corporate quality moves over to Franz Kleiner, who is also responsible for the active and passive safety technology division.

Fraikin has appointed Ed Cowell to the new post of chief executive officer with a brief to spearhead the company’s growth in commercial vehicle contract hire, fleet management and rental. His appointment follows that of Bryn Thomas, who has taken over as chief finance officer.

Mark Newnes has been appointed operations director at Oldham-based Car & Commercial Vehicle Services. He joins C&C after more than 12 years at Fraikin, where he was also operations director, responsible for a fleet of more than 10,000 vehicles, 10 branches and co-ordinating a national network of authorised third-party workshops.

GT Group – part of the Knorr-Bremse since July – has appointed long-serving managing director Keith Bendelow vice president of the parent company’s centre of competence for engine air management, based in Peterlee, County Durham. He will also head the business’ management team, comprising commercial director Catherine Turnbull, director of product development Collin Gibson, finance director Stuart Conley and managing director of Alpha Process Controls, John Lamb.
