Bob Lowden is the new managing director of Iveco UK, following three years heading up the firm's operations in South Africa. Lowden has significant experience both of the UK market and within Iveco, having joined the company in a fleet development role back in 1990, and having spent the five years prior to South Africa as Iveco customer service director, responsible for parts and service, before which he was dealer network director.

Ian Mitchell has been appointed sales director for MAN Truck & Bus UK. He was formerly commercial truck director for Volvo Group UK, responsible for the UK/Eire truck sales organisation and operations. Prior to joining Volvo, he was with Shell UK Oil Products leading sales and marketing teams selling fuel, fuel cards, and lubricants, and in the later period delivering substantial change projects in the UK and across Europe.

Glenn Saint, chief technical officer, is leaving Optare after 17 years, to pursue a new venture developing electric vehicle technologies for the automotive industry. Ken Anderson, who runs Ashok Leyland's European technical centre and has spent 30 years in the automotive industry, will join Optare as interim head of engineering.

John Alton (77), commercial director of Shrewsbury-based Morris Lubricants, who has celebrated more than half a century of service at the company, was presented with his second gold watch. He joined the family-owned oil blenders in 1989 from Silkolene Oils, in Belper, Derbyshire, where he was sales and marketing director, and collected his first gold watch for 25 years' service.

Richard Shillingford has joined bus operator RATP Dev London as engineering director, bringing with him significant experience, including most recently with Metroline Travel, initially as technical manager and then chief engineer.

Volvo long-timer Dave Porter is the new regional coach sales manager at Volvo Bus, looking after the Republic of Ireland. He takes over from James Hyde, who will now focus on wider geographical areas.

Tamzen Isacsson is the new director of communications and international at the SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders), reporting to chief executive Mike Hawes. She was previously head of media and PR for London & Partners, the Mayor's promotional company for London. Her career started at the BBC where she worked for 10 years as a journalist, with her last role as programme output editor on BBC Radio 4's Today programme.
