Former Volkwagen man Peter Butler has joined Lombard as development director of the strategic accounts team. In his new role, Butler will be responsible for handling Lombard's major fleet customers, such as British Gas, Ikea and the AA.

Finn Johnsson has resigned as chairman of AB Volvo, citing "increasingly comprehensive assignments". Assuming his role, until the company's next shareholders meeting on 14 April, will be Louis Schweitzer. A member of the board of Volvo since 2001, Schweitzer is a former president of Renault, which owns a 20% share of the Swedish truck maker.

New challenges lie ahead for the CEO of MAN UK, Des Evans, as he gains promotion to the position of head of business development for new and used truck sales in the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia. In his time as CEO, Evans has overseen the integration of the ERF business unit, and streamlined the dealer network.

Optare's highly regarded commercial director Glenn Saint has been promoted to the company's board, while retaining his current responsibilities. Saint, 46, has over 28 years experience in the transport sector, having gained experience with Rolls Royce followed by a number of years in the rail industry before joining Optare in 1997.
