Former parliamentary under-secretary of state for transport Steven Norris has been appointed independent non-executive director with Optare. He becomes deputy chairman with immediate effect, responsible for working with government and the UK bus industry to promote greener transport.

Scania national used and export sales director Peter Ross is to turn his attention fully on the used vehicle market at home and abroad, following the appointment of Sandy Millar, who takes over his regional executive director for Scotland responsibilities, having returned to the company from a senior role within MAN.

Brian Lafferty has joined Buffaload Logistics as national transport manager. He now has responsibility for the company's 65 double-deck reefers and 35 urban and 13.6m trailer fleet, tractor units and courier express vehicles. Previously, he managed his own transport consultancy.

Trailers and body builder Cartwright has revealed Lionel Curtis as the company's new technical director. He was formerly engineering manager at Gray & Adams.
