Culina’s Giorgio Lercara was named Microlise Driver of the Year at the Microlise Transport Conference, receiving the award from HRH The Princess Royal in front of more than 1,000 transport industry delegates. Lercara beat off competition from more than 110,000 HGV drivers originally in the running, following analysis of telematics information from truck-based Microlise systems.

TNT Express head of operations Caroline Rose has scooped the top prize at the 2016 FTA Everywoman in Transport & Logistics awards. Judges said she is a visionary team leader, with a proven track record for leading teams and projects. Many of her ideas have been adopted by the wider TNT Group at a global level. Other category winners included: Brighton & Hove Bus and Coach’s Rachel Beckett (rising star of the year); Kirsty Sando of Heathrow Express (driver of the year); and Transport for London’s Jo Field (industry champion of the year).

Asset Alliance Group has appointed Debbie McLean to the role of rental manager for Scotland. She assumes the role after a year as national business manager at TOM Vehicle Rental, and will be working for temperature-controlled vehicle contract hire, rental and leasing Total Reefer as well as Asset Alliance itself.

Mercedes-Benz Vans has named Ricky McFarland as head of strategic accounts reporting to Simon Neill, UK sales director. He was formerly with Fiat, where he rose from sales operations manager to become head of national corporate and leasing sales department, and most recently country manager for Fiat Professional.

Top 30 contract hire and fleet management firm TCH Leasing has strengthened its sales team with Geoff Barlow, who now looks after corporate sales for the Midlands and South-West. He was formerly area sales manager with Sandicliffe Motor Contracts.

Controlled Power Technologies (CPT) has appointed Dennis Hayter as chief commercial officer. He brings many years of experience from the low carbon auto sector, and technology and strategy consulting, and will now focus on the introduction of 48V mild hybrid technology for ULEVs (ultra-low emission vehicles).

Russell Allen is the new chair of the 1link Hire Network Customer Forum, while Julie Griffiths becomes deputy chair. Currently co-owner of Fulcrum Automotive Solutions, Allen has held senior positions at National Car Rental, Europcar, Helphire and Paragon Automotive. Griffiths, who previously served as chair, is customer services manager at Lex Autolease.

Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London, Milton Keynes workshop supervisor Robert Gray has celebrated 40 years’ service with the dealership. Dealerpoint manager Brian Mills – himself a veteran with 38 years’ service – said Rob is universally admired by his colleagues and described him as a superstar.

Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealer group Rygor has expanded its aftersales business support team with four parts and service staff, led by key accounts manager, Andy Passco. The new team comprises John Harvey, Lynne Watkins, Lynette Dickinson and Richard Conibear.
