The new president of ACEA (the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association) is Carlos Ghosn, chairman and CEO of Renault. He takes over from Philippe Varin, former chairman of the board of management of PSA Peugeot Citroën with immediate effect.

John and Steven Cartwright have left the family firm to launch Tiger as a new trailer and body manufacturer. Darren Holland, sales director for Tiger, says that the new firm is offering a complete range of transport products, from rigid bodywork to double deck LSTs (longer semi-trailers).

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has appointed Chris Black head of fleet, looking after all UK regions and corporate accounts. Black, who has more than 20 years experience in the automotive and financial sectors, was formerly with Lombard Corporate Asset Finance where he was UK head of corporate coverage.

Commercial vehicle contract hire and fleet management specialist Prohire has appointed Duncan Turk as the firm's new national fleet engineer. Turk brings more than two decades of experience in the commercial vehicle sector during which time he held senior positions with TNT Logistics, Hitachi Capital and Amey.

David Siviero is the new sales, marketing and service director at Optare. He has been involved in the bus industry since 2002, when he was Evobus Italy sales manager before moving on to Iveco Bus where he rose to general manager, Iveco Bus UK and ultimately sales and marketing director, Iveco Bus South Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Isuzu Truck UK sales director Richard Draycott is retiring at the end of July 2014, 50 years after starting in the truck industry, with Bedford Trucks. Richard Waterworth has joined Isuzu Truck UK as head of sales, reporting to Draycott until his retirement. Waterworth, who is well known in the industry, has spent the last five years as sales manager at one of the top-selling ITUK dealerships, Warrington Vehicle Centre.

Dearman Engine Company has recruited Nick Owen from engineering consultancy E4tech to the position of chief technology officer as it prepares for its liquid-air engine to begin on-vehicle testing. Owen brings significant experience in the commercial and technical activities around low carbon vehicles.

O&H Vehicle Conversions has promoted Russell Boulton to welfare vehicle sales manager, and John Pay (formerly northern sales manager) to UK wheelchair access vehicle sales manager. Additionally, Kirsty Dodd, formerly of Webasto Thermo & Comfort UK, is now the marketing and communications manager at O&H.

Ford's Bridgend and Dagenham plants have appointed new plant managers following the retirement of Dagenham plant manager and Ford long-timer Dave Parker. His replacement is Martin Everitt, who was assistant plant manager at Dagenham prior to his appointment as Ford Bridgend plant manager in 2012. Ian Pearson takes on the role of Ford Bridgend plant manager, having recently been the Craiova engine plant manager in Romania.

Jon Gregory is the new southern regional sales manager at DEL Equipment (UK). He was formerly business development manager for Scania dealer Keltruck.

TRW's aftermarket business has announced the promotion of Ben Smart from senior manager, sales and marketing, Asia Pacific, to marketing services manager for its global parts and service business.
