Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for providing day-to-day line management for a number of fleet engineering and support staff in the workshop, undertaking effective performance management of the workforce and ensuring productivity levels are maximised.
You will develop and maintain relationships with both customers and suppliers to maximise service delivery; actively resolving any operational issues that may arise, providing service continuity for both internal and external customers. At all times you will ensure that an outstanding level of customer service is delivered.
You will lead by example by being a visible presence on the shop floor, undertaking mechanical work on vehicles and plant where necessary and being available to provide technical supervision and guidance for the fleet engineering staff.
Knowledge and Skills
You will need proven experience of supervising a large and diverse fleet maintenance facility.
You will need extensive experience of the day-to-day management of fleet engineering and support staff to a supervisory level – including effective performance management.
You must have a background in engineering including proven experience as a fitter at NVQ level 3 or a City & Guilds Certificate in Heavy Motor Vehicle engineering.
