The role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Contract Manager to join our Contract Management team. You will be representing FTA's award winning Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS), which helps to keep FTA's members safe, efficient and compliant. Your role will be to manage a portfolio of VIS contracts, to identify and offer solutions to vehicle maintenance related issues. And provide specialist, solution based, support to the Sales Team and to generating growth within that area against set individual monthly/annual targets for new business.

Your responsibilities will be:

  • Proactively manage a portfolio of VIS contracts assigned ensuring that customer satisfaction and levels of work agreed are maintained and/or increased.
  • To provide specialist technical support for VIS products and services to the Sales Team, including advice, presentation material, proposal/quotation wording and joint visits.
  • To present VIS management information to customers from the local Transport Manager to Board level using Power Point presentations and/or use of the Gateway portals and dashboards. To identify and offer solutions to vehicle maintenance related issues.
  • Liaise with VIS Operations Managers to ensure that FTA meets its contractual commitments in terms of quality, quantity and timing.
  • To obtain customer feedback and assist the Contract Management Team with development of products and services.
  • To translate customer needs into operational actions via accurate administrative instructions.
  • To communicate with the designated local Membership Relations Manager or Regional Head of Member Relations regarding contract status and renewal and agree all commercial issues including prices, payment terms, debt collection and any financial concessions.
  • To seek ways of maximising the value of the allocated contracts both to the customer and FTA.
  • To feed any leads that arise from contract management activities to the appropriate Account Manager/ Member Relations Manager/ or FTA business unit.

About you

The successful candidate will have the ability to achieve results through knowledge and expertise in a steady and organised manner. Persistence, seeing a job through to conclusion and working independently are also important to this role.

You should ideally have a HGV technical background (certified in vehicle maintenance) with a good understanding of sales within the logistics industry and Operators licencing system. You should be a self-starter who is friendly, confident, dependable, methodical, and have excellent negotiation, presentation and customer service skills.

You should have a City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in the motor industry, have a full UK driving licence, and a proven track record of growing business within a targeted environment.

A flexible approach is essential as you will be required to travel and work across the UK.
