Nottingham City Council is seeking a professional and inspirational Workshop Manager to take the vehicle maintenance service from Good to Great. You will possess significant experience of managing an operational vehicle workshop and maintenance service, driving productivity, operating efficiencies and have excellent customer service skills.

As Workshop Manager for Nottingham City Council you will manage and lead on the operational management and development of a large vehicle workshop at the Eastcroft Depot, repairing and servicing the Council's HGV fleet of traditional specialist vehicles and corporate fleet (330 units), together with and extensive range and variety of plant and equipment. In addition to the corporate fleet, the council maintains several commercial fleets on behalf of major organisations. You will also be responsible for the light vehicle maintenance workshop at Woolsthorpe in Bilborough, which also provides high quality services to commercial operators and direct to the public.

Having a proven track record in the delivery of professional workshop functions the manager will provide leadership to a team consisting of thirty six staff. The team is fundamental to the Council's aspirations to deliver a customer focused service offering exceptional service delivery. Our ambitions are to grow the business in realising opportunities from partnerships' procurements and joint working with public and private organisations.

You will need to have a background and qualification in mechanical engineering or equivalent and ideally a CPC in Road Haulage as well as skill in the use of fleet management software, spreadsheets and databases. Crucial will be experience of delivering strong financial and performance management, promote culture change and modernisation of the service and the motivational skills to meet this challenging opportunity.
