The Dutch-owned operator has now ordered £100m of ADL vehicles in the last seven years, citing the manufacturer’s ability to “walk the talk” in terms of price and support.
Alan Pilbeam (pictured), COO and deputy MD of Abellio UK, says that ADL shares Abellio’s values by “putting customers first, backing promises with actions and delivering the low-emission products of today – while investing in the technology of tomorrow.”
He adds: “At Abellio, we don’t just want to be the best; we want to be in a different league.”
Jon Eardley, engineering director for Abellio UK Bus, describes the relationship with ADL as “open and honest”, adding: “We set clearly defined targets, review performance regularly and address issues head-on.
“In short, we have high expectations at Abellio and ADL has stepped up to the challenge, all of which encourages consolidation around their product range.”
Abellio has committed to making its entire UK bus fleet Euro VI compliant by the end of next year.
