Aggregates operator reports ‘substantial’ benefits with Isotrak06 December 2017

Aggregates supplier Cemex UK is reporting “substantial” benefits since implementing a driver behaviour programme, underpinned by telematics from Isotrak.

Cemex says ‘blame-worthy’ accidents are down by 10% and, in the past year alone, fuel efficiency has improved by 6%.

Previously, Cemex used a number of telematics systems to manage its 213-strong tipper fleet, but none of the systems delivered the reporting capabilities it needed. So it commissioned Isotrak to implement a vehicle tracking system and the CANbus solution, a system used to monitor driver behaviour.

Weekly reports focus on four key parameters: engine idling, harsh acceleration, high revving and over torque figures.

Rob Wilkinson, regional logistics manager for Cemex, said: “Using Isotrak’s system to track and monitor driving behaviour patterns has allowed us to proactively improve performance through initiatives such as a driver-training programme.

“The result has been a dramatic decrease in our fuel bills thanks to more efficient driving habits, and, from a safety aspect, a reduction in the number of driver situations and accidents.”

Wilkinson says Isotrak’s approach makes it a valuable partner, adding: “The results that Cemex has been able to achieve through working with them are substantial and we’re certainly keen to consider adopting new telematics initiatives, such as those offered by Verilocation, part of the Isotrak group.”
