Alcoa broadens medium duty wheel range04 September 2013

Alcoa has expanded its medium duty portfolio with a new wheel size: 19.5 x 6.75.

The company already offers the 17.5 x 6.75 wheel for medium duty trucks, and the new addition to the range will be available at Daimler for the new Mercedes-Benz Atego truck (12 to 15T) from September 2013.

The new wheel weighs 17.1kg, and will offer a maximum load per wheel of 2,575kg.
It will be available in two finishes: brushed metal and Dura-Bright.

Alcoa wheels are manufactured from a single block of high-strength corrosion resistant aluminium alloy. With a 8000 tons press, the block is forged into a wheel shape.

Once forged the wheels are heat-treated to maximize overall mechanical strengths. The Alcoa forging process aligns the grain flow of aluminium with the shape of the wheel, even in the critical area where disc and rim meet.
