Allianz Global Assistance signs major fleet deal with Volkswagen 22 February 2013

The Volkswagen Transporter has been chosen for a fleet of 79 roadside assistance vehicles by Allianz Global Assistance, in a deal worth £1.75m.

Fuel efficiency, value for money and payload were key vehicle criteria, according to Allianz, and every VW Transporter van has been converted to enable the organisation's technicians to carry the equipment they need on the road.

The list of tools includes a compact recovery trailer, diagnostic equipment and dedicated storage for jack, axle stands, tools, common vehicle parts and car batteries.

"We required a fleet with an outstanding all-round performance, great residual values, and excellent fuel economy," says Rob Lunt, deputy operations director at Allianz Global Assistance in the UK.

"But, as we operate a 24/7 business, vehicle reliability is also of paramount importance and the Volkswagen Transporter meets all our needs."

The new Transporter fleet will be supplied from the Birmingham Volkswagen Van Centre, which has been working with Allianz Global Assistance to ensure the vehicles have been converted to the bespoke specification required, and delivered on time.
