Allison Transmission for King Long’s next UK mini coach 12 December 2012

The latest King Long mini coach – XMQ6800 – will feature an automatic gearbox from Allison Transmission, the Chinese bus and coach importer confirms.

Following its UK launch at Euro Bus Expo 2012, Allison Transmission was chosen for the 8m vehicle, due to its broad range of gearboxes offering a unit that "fits perfectly alongside the XMQ6800's Cummins ISBe5 207bhp engine, and because of its reputation as a brand offering reliability, durability and performance" says the manufacturer.

"The XMQ6800 has been purpose-built from the ground up and demonstrates how serious we are to grow our share," says Paul Bicknell, director of Kinglong Direct.

"This is a true coach-built mini coach, offering operators another option in a sector dominated by van conversions," he adds.

"When we looked at the XMQ6800's drivetrain, it had to have an automatic from Allison Transmission," he continues.

"In a market where manuals and automated manual transmissions are the norm, our offer of the Allison is a distinctive advantage. We conducted rigorous trials of the transmission in China and found that the Allison transmission performed very well," confirms Bicknell.
