Anglian Bus and Coach sees 10% fuel gains from telematics system 10 February 2010

Beccles-based Anglian Bus and Coach says it has installed MiX Telematics Fleet Manager, as part of its drive to improve operations efficiency.

Anglian director Andrew Pursey says that early fuel savings of more than 10%, with its the initial installation of 25 systems, prompted its order for a further 10 units.

"We opted for the MiX Telematics' solution after reviewing a number of options, and fitted a total of 25 units to vehicles, ranging from Optare Solos and Tempos through to Scania Omni single and double-deckers," he explains.

"The benefits – namely, fuel savings of 10%-plus and fewer insurance claims – were apparent from the outset. Later on, our maintenance team confirmed our brake wear had reduced and we were using less air-bags," he adds.

Anglian Bus and Coach is also using the system as a central part of its SAFED (safe and fuel efficient driving) training to monitor driver improvements.
