Arclid Transport modifies trailer for quieter operation 28 June 2011

Arclid Transport has worked with WG Tankers to modify its trailer design for quieter operation and also claims that it will extend the life of its existing fleet.

The Cheshire-based haulage company's trailer modification is based around a self-contained acoustic enclosure, which houses both the blowing equipment that discharges the load, and the motor that drives the equipment.

"Due to environmental and local issues, we were keen to manage the issue of noise during deliveries of bulk sand," explains Ian Hall from F Ball, an Arclid Transport customer.

"We spoke to Arclid and they agreed to explore ways in which they could modify their fleet to help address the issue."

Peter Conway, transport manager at Arclid Transport, explains: "We decided to be proactive in identifying a solution to the issue and to look for a solution that would deliver benefits to both the customer and our operations."
