Argentinians look to Allison for transmission technology 30 March 2012

Transportes Olivos, a subsidiary of the multinational group Urbaser, has replaced 16 refuse trucks in its fleet with new Iveco trucks, equipped with Allison automatic transmissions.

Ariel Caputo, maintenance manager of the Transportes Olivos garage in Tigre, explains that the decision was made after a series of tests, and that today, at its company headquarters in Argentina, one out of every three compactors has an Allison automatic transmission.

"Allison automatic transmissions were the natural choice," says Diego Gabriel Abelleira, head of machinery.

"We value the advantages that are linked with the reduction in maintenance costs," he adds.

Abelleira goes on to explain that the automatic transmission eliminates the mechanical clutch and replaces it with a torque converter.
