Asda awards home shopping R&M contract to Pullman Fleet Services 01 November 2013

Asda has contracted Pullman Fleet Services – Wincanton's independent repair and maintenance provider – to maintain around half of its growing home shopping fleet of 1,800 vehicles.

The decision follows two-years during which Pullman has already been providing nationwide defect management for Asda's UK fleet of LGVs (large goods vehicles).

Pullman managing director Graham Hunter explains that the contact includes full fleet management, including dedicated 24/7, 365 days a year R&M for Asda's fleet of 3.5-tonne home delivery vehicles in the East Midlands, Northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

"Clearly, both businesses share a common value of delivering excellent customer service and we are, of course, delighted to be expanding our relationship with Asda," states Hunter.

"We look forward to using our expertise to bring further efficiencies to Asda's fleet, and to providing Asda with certainty of cost, helping it maintain its promise of providing value and savings to its many customers," he adds.

Asda fleet contracts manager Sean Clifton says: "Pullman already provides a comprehensive and successful defect management programme to our nationwide fleet so we were well aware of its capabilities.

"The new R&M contract, announced today [1 November 2013], provides us with further certainty of cost as well as creating even more efficient working practices."

Traditionally an HGV repair business, Pullman has transformed itself in recent years by expanding its mobile repair capabilities and extending its scope towards commercial vehicle fleet management.
