Asda home delivery fleet achieves Van Excellence accreditation04 March 2014

Asda has achieved the Van Excellence accreditation from the Freight Transport Association for its 1,800-strong home delivery fleet of light commercial vehicles.

"We're extremely pleased that the FTA have recognised, through their Van Excellence accreditation scheme, that our appetite for high standards across not just service, but safety and compliance is being replicated across our entire home delivery fleet," says Sean Clifton, Asda's national home shopping fleet manager.

Van Excellence was launched in 2010 and is open to operators of fleets of 3.5 tonnes gvw or less. More than 100,000 vehicles have been accredited under the scheme to date.

Accredited operators follow a code of practice covering systems such as vehicle roadworthiness, driver entitlement and load security. The standard exceeds the minimum requirements of existing legislation, and selects and adapts the requirements of O-licensing, normally applied to trucks.
