The Grays, Essex-based operator is using the system to keep track of 16 trucks, all 44-tonners, which collect from all major UK ports and deliver throughout the UK.
By using iPads and Verilocation’s bespoke mobile app, ACS has real-time visibility of vehicles: “This has saved us time and money by eliminating about 30 calls a day [to drivers],” says Asbury.
“Also, when the drivers are on long journeys and possibly on their rest period, we don’t need to disturb them to find out where they are.”
The system also proved invaluable recently, when one of the trucks was delivered from a garage to the wrong address. As soon as the vehicle was reported missing, the mobile app revealed its location and the mistake was immediately resolved.
Without the tracker, says Asbury, they would have assumed a theft and it would have resulted in hours of unnecessary work.
“The system is easy to use and extremely handy. The admin work is also reduced... mileage calculations, expenses, time sheets, etc – the automated reporting suite can handle it all.
“I wish we had installed it sooner.”
