Bell Truck and Van invests in wheel alignment kit 19 October 2011

Bell Truck and Van has bought four Haweka Axis200-2 wheel aligners, turn plates and car kits for its Billingham, Gateshead, Longbenton and Spennymoor workshops.

The Mercedes-Benz dealer group says it bought the equipment to help customers save costs on fuel and tyres.

Gavin Hewitt, general service manager says that demonstrations by Haweka proved that Axis200-2 takes less than 10 minutes to accurately measure every angle on a truck in the as-driven position – there is no need to lift the vehicle.

Bell Truck and Van is now using the equipment on its vehicles – from the Mercedes-Benz Vito Van to the large twin-steer Actros trucks.

"Our workshops have cut down on customers' vehicle idle time, waiting on a third party to come out and check the tracking," comments Hewitt.

"Dealers who do not have the Haweka alignment equipment are missing a real opportunity when removing any steering parts, as the vehicle should have its tracking adjusted," he insists.

He says that the aligners are used on average 15 times a week, and adds that customers will be seeing reduced running costs, as well as decreasing carbon emissions, increasing driver comfort and vehicle safety.
