Boughey Distribution rolls out Verilocation’s camera system to fleet26 October 2017

Nantwich-based Boughey Distribution is rolling out Verilocation’s MDVR multi-camera solution to its entire 103-strong fleet, after a successful trial on half of the vehicles.

Boughey first contacted Verilocaton at the end of 2016, seeking a way to counter the increasing number of third party insurance claims it was receiving. Cameras, believed Boughey, would provide the evidence needed, plus would act as a deterrent.

“We chose Verilocation because they offered an excellent product at a very good price point,” says Steve Newton, Boughey’s transport manager.

“The quality of the footage provided was excellent, and the aftersales service delivery and support has been outstanding.”

The VL 5500 MDVR 360-degree system for Boughey’s articulated lorries comprises of three cameras – forward facing, nearside and offside – plus a 1TB hard drive capable of storing approximately two months’ footage.

Verilocation also installed forward, nearside, offside and rear cameras in four of Boughey’s rigid trucks, and an in-cab monitor to aid drivers with actions such as reversing and turning.

The system includes live remote monitoring, so Boughey can log in to the cameras at any time to view live footage and data, as well as remotely request and view historic footage from each camera’s hard drive.

Boughey now knows which party is at fault in the event of any incidents, so is not paying out unnecessarily on claims. “Not only has the general level of safety for our drivers improved, we’ve also been able to save on costs because of reduced unnecessary insurance payments,” confirms Newton.
