B&Q assembles Microlise to build fleet performance 10 September 2015

B&Q is implementing a new truck performance and route planning system across its 185-strong fleet, from telematics specialist Microlise.

Chris Blogg, store delivery network manager at the national DIY retailer, says that the new system will be used to improve customer experience with B&Q’s Home Delivery services.

B&Q, he says, will be able to monitor the status of deliveries against a schedule, in real-time, and be proactive in solving any issues.

“Microlise ... will enable us to make significant savings while improving the precision with which we can track our home delivery vehicles,” states Blogg.

“Customers expect specific allotted times for deliveries and Microlise helps us to meet and exceed customer expectations.”

And he adds that B&Q will also utilise the Microlise Driver Performance Management mobile application, aimed at engaging with drivers by delivering performance league tables and real-time performance information.

Blogg believes that this element of the system will reduce the fuel consumption and environmental impact of B&Q’s fleet, while also improving safety and driver performance.
