Bridgestone announces retread production increase12 August 2011

Bridgestone has announced that investment in its retread plant, and integration of product lines, is now paying dividends.

With the cost of rubber leading to an increase in the price of new tyres, retreads have become more popular for UK fleets. Bridgestone says it is in the perfect position to cope with the challenges presented in today's retread market, due to its manufacturing set-up and its casing management programme.

"The demand for retread tyres has recently been staggering. Bridgestone is in a fantastic position to react to the market, being able to offer both manufacturing systems," Terry Salter, retread development manager for Bridgestone UK, explains.

"Each system brings its own benefits - the flexibility of precured systems and the superior cosmetic appearance of hot cure means we are able to service the different needs of commercial fleets in their retread packages, in comparison to other manufacturers who are often limited to using one technique," adds Salter.
