Britaniacrest wastes no time with new tipper trailer order 03 October 2013

Britaniacrest Recycling has taken delivery of the first new Schmitz Cargobull S.KI tipper trailer in the UK.

The S.KI 24 3AT 9.6 trailer was launched at Tip-Ex 2013 in Harrogate, and the recycling and waste management firm evaluated two manufacturers before selecting the Schmitz.

"We found ourselves getting busier on the aggregate removal side, so we decided to bring in a new tipper trailer," explains Chris Foss, director at Britaniacrest Recycling.

"Schmitz Cargobull's new tipper model ticked all the boxes for us. It is the perfect size and build to cater for all of our aggregate and waste transportation requirements, and had everything we needed in terms of specification," he adds.

The trailer features a weight-optimised, rounded steel half-pipe body for short-distance use and frequent tipping, with a 6mm floor and 5mm sidewalls for heavy duty operations.

It is also fitted with a top hung tail gate and a sliding roller tarpaulin cover to prevent loads from being blown away and to maximise aerodynamic efficiency.

The tipper trailer is also equipped with Schmitz Cargobull's ROTOS running gear, with its maintenance-free bearing, ventilation system for disc brakes, weight-optimised brake calliper and EBS (electronic braking system) with RSP (roll stability program).

Britaniacrest Recycling runs a 39-strong commercial vehicle fleet, including eight-wheel rigid tippers, refuse collection vehicles, skip-loaders and multiple artics, operating primarily with walking floor trailers.

The new addition is now being used for transporting concrete and hardcore from construction and demolition sites across London and the South East to Britaniacrest's 15-acre recycling facility in Hookwood, Surrey.

Foss says the trailer will be in service for at least five years.
