British bus maker wins 250-vehicle deal in Canada26 November 2014

Bus and coach manufacturer Alexander Dennis (ADL) is to supply Canadian operator Metrolinx with 250 low-height double-decker buses over the next five years, in a deal which will see the UK manufacturer setting up a chassis assembly facility in Ontario.

The contract – which includes an option for 150 more vehicles – will see the low-height Enviro500 vehicles joining an established fleet of 125 ADL double-deckers already in operation for Metrolinx in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area.

The new vehicles will be able to access four major terminals that cannot be served by double-decker buses currently due to height restrictions.

Construction of the new chassis assembly plant will commence in mid-2015, creating 30 jobs. The first of the new vehicles will be delivered in early 2016.
