Bus and coach operators eye up Irizar vehicles at Spanish factory12 March 2015

A group of delegates from the Confederation of Passenger Transport recently visited Irizar’s coach factory in northern Spain, where its Integral i6, i4 and PB coaches are built.

Visitors were taken on a tour of the region – aboard an i6 coach – and were shown around the Irizar plant, including the design suite and production hall, before another trip in an i2e electric bus.

"The electric bus ride was the real icing on the cake of an excellent factory visit," says Clive King, business development manager for Arriva the Shires & Essex.

Arriva Kent & Surrey's Matthew Arnold also congratulated the hosts, saying: "By far the best highlight for me was the opportunity to inspect and ride on the i2e fully-electric bus, which is achieving 14-16 hour days and 250km range.

"As you would expect from Irizar, build quality was excellent, even allowing for the fact that the bus we inspected was a production prototype."
