Bus operator awards exclusive deal for lifting equipment at £8.5m depot17 February 2014

Bus operator Go North East has selected Stertil Koni to supply all vehicle lifting equipment for its new £8.5 million depot at Gateshead Riverside.

The operator, part of the Go Ahead Group, is to relocate to the new facility, which will accommodate 160 buses and replaces two existing depots.

It specified lifts, instead of pits, to give more flexibility and improve safety – specifying a range of lifts to meet the demands in each area.

Two are twin-ram, fully recessed in-ground models, with a lifting capacity of 32 tonnes. Another larger lift, also fully recessed, has three rams and a lifting capacity of 48 tonnes, ideal for lifting three-axle vehicles, such as the 18m-long Bendibuses.

Two Skylift platforms will also be installed, also fully recessed, to give lifting capacities of 20 and 25 tonnes. The 25-tonne version has a 14.5m-long platform for working on longer vehicles.

Completing the line up are nine sets of four Stertil Koni ST1075FWF wireless mobile column lifts. Rated individually at 7.5 tonnes, they can be used in pairs or in multiples for buses with more axles.
