Bus operator opens doors to new apprentices30 September 2014

Bus operator London United has kicked off a new apprenticeship programme – its first for many years – and has taken on four budding engineers.

The new recruits were selected from a shortlist of 47 applicants and are now studying bus and coach engineering with Bristol-based S&B Automotive Academy.

"We have completely overhauled our apprenticeship programme and believe we now offer one of the most comprehensive training schemes in the industry," says Hannah Connors, London United's learning and development manager.

Richard Hall, the operator's managing director, says he is "delighted" to welcome the four apprentices, adding: "It is critical that we grow our own talent, and my team has developed a new and innovative training programme so we are fit to face the future."

The apprentices, pictured (left to right) are: Christopher Barry, Karol Lewandowski, Dziugas Gedvilas and Tim Pitwell.
