Cenex launches fleet carbon reduction tool at LCV201015 September 2010

Cenex is introducing a simulation tool today aimed at helping fleet operators understand the impact of introducing low carbon vehicles into their existing fleets.

The UK's centre of excellence for low carbon vehicle technologies is launching the tool and its associated free 50-page guide (which includes four case studies looking at low carbon vehicles working in fleets) at the LCV event, which opens today at the Milbrook proving ground.

Visitors to the event will get to see the Fleet Carbon Reduction Tool and attend Cenex's fleet carbon reduction seminar that includes presentations from Coca Cola, Royal Mail and Iveco.

Robert Evans, CEO of Cenex, explains that the tool enables accurate estimation of the carbon reduction performance of different transport fuels – providing whole-life cost and emissions predictions for each fleet option to help identify their best low carbon technology option. He also states that it should help fleet operators to cut the need for trialling options in the field.

"Fleet operators face significant challenges in responding to the need to lower carbon emissions and to reduce the energy use of their vehicles," says Evans.

"We aim to help managers and operators meet these challenges through informed decisions on the best way to reduce carbon in their vehicle fleet."
