Chambers of Guildford rates Hiab Multilift Pro-Future options 24 September 2013

Chambers of Guildford says it is achieving significantly better productivity since specifying Hiab Multilift's optional Pro-Future 'Fast' features on a new XR26 hooklift system.

Peter Chambers, chairman and managing director of the waste and recycling contractor, explains that the hooklift has a lift capacity of 26 tonnes and has been fitted to a 32-tonne gvw, four-axle Volvo chassis.

Following the delivery of the vehicle, Hiab Multilift carried out a familiarisation programme both for drivers and the company's workshop team to explain how to get the most our of the Pro-Future kit, he says.

'Fast speed' adds a third speed to the standard two, enabling unloading of empty containers in a third of the time. 'Fast tipping' allows movement of the main cylinders to continue during tipping until the frame reaches 40 degrees, so increasing the safe tipping speed. And 'Fast lowering' allows the hooklift to be lowered from the tipping position in a third of the normal time and almost without the hydraulic pump.

Overall productivity is further improved by the use of Automatic Sequence Control (ASC), Hiab Multilift's control system which uses programmable logic controls to manage all of the hooklift's functions.

"In the waste and recycling business, it's important to maximise productivity and make the optimum number of pick-ups and drops in a day that you can," comments Chambers.

"The new features on this latest Multilift equipment will help us to do that," he continues, adding that his drivers find Multilift hooklift equipment easy to use and very reliable.

"Our workshop staff are also familiar with Multilift equipment and when parts are needed the service we get is good."
