Chatfields marks milestone with 500th ATF lane25 June 2015

The UK’s 500th authorised testing facility (ATF) lane will be officially opened next week (2 July 2015) by Alastair Peoples, chief executive of the Driver Vehicle Standards Agency.

Located at commercial vehicle retailer Chatfields' site in Birtley, County Durham, the lane is one of only a handful in the North East to meet IS (intrinsically safe) standards, enabling MOTs to be carried out on hazardous vehicles including spirit tankers.

Wayne Edwards, national franchise director for Chatfields, says: "The new ATF lane will allow the Birtley site to offer a true one-stop-shop solution to help customers maximise vehicle uptime, and make service and maintenance a great deal more efficient."

And he adds: "As a group we are committed to delivering the very best service we can for all of our customers and the introduction of this new facility is another example of how we continue to invest to achieve this goal."

The Birtley ATF lane joins three others at Chatfields' Leeds, Sheffield and Stockton sites.
