Peter Fairlie, group sales director, points to figures released by the DfT (Department for Transport) which suggest three of the top 10 contributory factors to road accidents involving police callouts were loss of control (13%), slippery road surfaces (8%) and travelling too fast for the conditions (7%).
All, he says, highlight the criticality of appropriate tyre policies.

Fairlie says that this winter ATS Euromaster is offering Michelin CrossClimate tyres – the only summer tyre certified for use in cold weather.
CrossClimate can prove highly cost-effective, he says, for car-derived van fleets that encounter intermittently inclement weather. Not only do they provide quality performance in cold weather, but can be retained year-round for outstanding warm weather performance too, he says.
Furthermore, they can be fitted one axle at a time, as wear dictates, so there’s no need to change all four tyres at once – although ATS Euromaster recommends changing all four to ensure best performance.
