Citroen increases the load with Berlingo Electric L201 March 2017

Citroën is extending its zero-emissions Berlingo Electric range with the L2 550 LX van, which will be showcased on Citroen’s stand at the forthcoming Commercial Vehicle Show (25-27 April; NEC, Birmingham).

The L2 offers 250mm more load length than the existing L1 model (2,050mm compared to 1,800mm), and the load volume is extended to 3.7m3, versus 3.3m3 for the L1. The passenger bench seat can be folded to further extend the load length to 3,250mm, giving a maximum load volume of 4.1 m3.

The lithium-ion battery packs are fitted beneath the load floor, providing the same load area dimensions as an equivalent diesel-powered Berlingo L2 model. The new Electric L2 version also features twin sliding side loading doors as standard.

All new Berlingo L1 and L2 electric models now have a 16A, Type 2 charging cable as standard – the cable is compatible with most public access charging points.

The new L2 van is powered by the same electric drivetrain as the Electric L1 version, producing 49kW (67bhp) and maximum torque of 200Nm. The front wheels are driven through a speed reducer and single ratio gearbox.

The vehicle’s range is 106 miles and, like the L1, it can be recharged to 80% capacity in 30 minutes.

The L2 550 LX is priced from £22,180 (plus VAT) but, with Plug-in Van Grant savings, this could be reduced by more than £5,300.
